Although many wonderful books have been written about individual icons and attractions, it seems that there are few that celebrate ALL the elements that make St. Louis unique, fun, delicious, exciting and home. There are books about the Arch, our city’s founders, explorers and rivers, and books about our sports teams. However, as we investigated, hunted, shopped, and searched, we just couldn’t find one that tied it all together. We believe that Goodnight St. Louis is that one book.

St. Louis truly has so much to share. A city of neighborhoods and neighbors, world class sports, accessible music and theater, historic landmarks, public art, and well-tended green spaces. It is a city and a region with a wealth of offerings and we felt it was high time to boast about our home town. We hope you think so too.

When creating Goodnight St. Louis we had a vision. We wanted whimsy, but at the same time, we wanted readers to easily recognize each landmark and attraction. We wanted the illustrations to spark fond memories of readers’ visits to the Arch, the Zoo or City Museum, for example. We also felt it was important to encourage readers to visit places they may not have been …the Old Courthouse, the cathedrals, or one of our city’s many festivals and parades. Get out there if you haven’t been and see what you are missing!

We thank you for exploring our website. It is our sincere hope that local or visitor, young or old, you cherish St. Louis and ALL the things that make our city home. Goodnight St. Louis!

Julie and June

Authors and Illustrator

Julie Desloge Dubray, Co-Author

A native St. Louisan, Julie Dubray is a graduate of Villa Duchesne and Oak Hill School, and the University of Dayton (OH). After spending several years living in Germany, she and her husband returned to St. Louis with their three sons, now teenagers. Dubray and her family delight in showcasing St. Louis to visitors from around the world. She notes that writing this book has given her the opportunity to share her enthusiasm for the city that she loves to call home.

June Arthur Herman, Co-Author

A New Jersey native, June Herman considers herself a “St. Louisan by choice.” Married with two teenagers, Herman has lived in St. Louis for more than 20 years. She and her husband, both East Coasters, have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know their adopted home town. They love exploring the city’s eclectic neighborhoods, listening to live music, and watching world class sports. Her favorite part about writing this book was researching the fascinating history behind some of St. Louis most treasured landmarks. She is a graduate of Loras College, Dubuque. IA.

Karen Wilke Heyse, Illustrator

Born and raised near Chicago, IL, Karen Heyse has enjoyed painting since the age of 7 when she received her first “official” art set. A muralist by trade, she has had a successful decade-plus career. Her whimsical, “out-of-the-box” work can be seen in businesses and private homes throughout St. Louis. Heyse’s favorite part about illustrating Goodnight St. Louis was creating a uniquely artistic vision of the city, its landmarks and attractions. She and her husband have three married daughters and one terrific grandson! They have lived in St. Louis for nearly 40 years. During registration the User is required to supply a username, password, and email address.

3.         “E-Mail This To A Friend” Policy.

This paragraph applies if the Company now or at any time in the future offers Users the ability to forward links, pages, or documents through the Website.  Company’s Website Users can choose to electronically forward a link, page, or documents to someone else by clicking “e-mail this to a friend”. The User must provide their email address, as well as that of the recipient. This information is used only in the case of transmission errors and, of course, to let the recipient know who sent the email. The information is not used for any other purpose.

4.         Polling.

Company may offer interactive polls to Users so they can easily share their opinions with other Users and see what Company’s audience thinks about important issues. Opinions or other responses to polls are aggregated and are not identifiable to any particular User. Company may use a system to “tag” Users after they have voted, so they can vote only once on a particular question. This tag is not correlated with information about individual Users.

5.         Surveys.

Company may conduct User surveys to better target Company’s content to Company’s audience. Company may share the aggregated demographic information in these surveys with Company’s sponsors, advertisers and partners. Company will not share any of this information about specific individuals with any third party.

7.         Usage Tracking.

Company may track User traffic patterns throughout the Website. However, Company will not correlate this information with data about individual Users. Company may break down overall usage statistics according to a User’s domain name, browser type, and MIME type by reading this information from the browser string (information contained in every User’s browser).

Company may track and catalog the search terms that Users enter in the Website’s Search function, but this tracking will not be associated with individual Users. Company may use tracking information to determine which areas of Company’s Website Users like and don’t like based on traffic to those areas.   Company will not track what individual Users read, but rather how well each page performs overall. This helps Company continue to build a better service for Users.

8.         Cookies.

Company may place a text file called a “cookie” in the browser files of User’s computer. The cookie itself does not contain Personal Information although it will enable Company to relate User’s use of this Website to information that User has specifically and knowingly provided. 9.         Use Of Information.

Company may use any information voluntarily given by Company’s Users to enhance their experience in Company’s Website, whether to provide interactive or personalized elements on the Website or to better prepare future content based on the interests of Company’s Users.

Company may track search terms entered in Search function as one of many measures of what interests Company’s Users. But Company will not track which terms a particular User enters.

Company may create aggregate reports on User demographics and traffic patterns for advertisers, sponsors and partners. This allows Company’s advertisers to advertise more effectively, and allows Company’s Users to receive advertisements that are pertinent to their needs. Because Company will not track the usage patterns of individual Users, an advertiser or sponsor will never know that a specific User clicked their ad. Company will not disclose any information about any individual User except to comply with applicable law or valid legal process or to protect the personal safety of Company’s Users or the public.

10.        Sharing Of The Information.
